A noiseless patient spider
Animated Poem
This is my animated interpretation of Walt Whitman's poem 'A Noiseless Patient Spider'.
For this project, three animators (myself, Biljana Labovic, and Jeremiah Dickey) were given the text to this Walt Whitman poem. Without observing one another's processes, we set off to create our very own animated interpretation of the poem, each read by 3 different spoken-word poets. We each chose wildly different mediums; mine was animated by hand using scratchboard, by way of a set-up straight from MacGyver himself.
In 2019, my interpretation of "A Noiseless Patient Spider' toured with a group of films celebrating Walt Whitman's 200th birthday, and screened at the Center for Book Arts in NYC as part of the exhibit, Walt Whitman’s Words: Inspiring Artists Today.
